Backup server

Life happens unexpectedly, so it is a good idea to prepare yourself and your business for things that do not show up on a schedule. Making sure you have a back up just in case something goes wrong like it usually does is just as much a good business idea as it is good planning. Unexpected things, like my foot turning the computer off unintentionally while writing this article, can happen when we least expect it. Take the time to make sure that your company servers are safe from the unexpected, whether they be man or nature, by backing them up with colocation hosting. Colocation hosting is a way of backing up your servers, you have another server running in a different location just in case your original server goes down. So if severe weather hits and your server went down with a power line you would not be losing business with the power, a backup server would allow your business online to keep going from that alternate location via colocation hosting. Colocation hosting will also take care of the environment around your backup server, insuring that air conditioning and power supplies are functioning to keep your backup functioning. While using colocation hosting means you will be utilizing more then one server at a time it does not mean that your capacity is increased as much as it means that your capacity is backed up. I took the time to outline some basic things to keep in mind while you are looking into the different colocation hosting options out there. Take the time to research the backbone that the colocation host has available since this will be what is tying your servers together. Learn more about the bandwidth capacity so you know if the colocation hosted server will be enough to fulfill your needs should it need to be used to support all of your technology needs. Also be sure to look into how fast the colocation hosting server responds and how reliable it is, you need to make sure that it will be an effective back up for your work. One other thing to keep in mind is where the colocation hosting server is located. If your server and your colocation hosting server are too close together then they may be impacted by the same disturbance. Significant space separating the servers will increase the probability that one of the servers will be functioning which means that you are not losing valuable business time and potential.
